M. Sebastian Raisch est professeur ordinaire de stratégie à l'Université de Genève. Il est également professeur invité et directeur du Center for Organizational Excellence (CORE) de l'Université de St. Gall. Il est titulaire d'un doctorat de l'Université de Genève.

Ses recherches et publications portent sur les domaines de l'organisation et de la stratégie orientées vers la croissance de l'entreprise, l'ambidextrie organisationnelle et l'innovation stratégique.

Le principal objectif de ce cours est d’étudier des marchés saturés afin de formuler des stratégies nouvelles et performantes. Repenser son modèle économique de manière innovante et créative par rapport à ses concurrents est l’un des principaux facteurs de succès dans l’environnement entrepreneurial actuel. Ce cours privilégie  une mise en pratique des concepts fondée sur le travail en groupe, les discussions avec les professionnels et l’étude de cas sectoriels concrets.

Strategic Management - Wednesday 14h15 – 16h00 (winter term)

This course deals with the craft of strategy. We will explore conceptual frameworks and models developed by leading strategy scholars to analyze competitive situations and strategic options. Several real life company cases are used to acquire practical experience in dealing with strategic issues. Throughout the course, we try to move beyond the necessary conceptual models and analytical techniques, and provide students a hands-on experience of strategy.

International Strategy - Monday 16h15 – 18h00 (summer term)

This course is designed to address the creation of competitive advantage in large, complex organizations that span national boundaries. Unlike purely domestic competitors, such companies have to make choices about which product to offer around the globe. Based on case studies, our objective is to explore these choices and provide you with a framework for dealing with the challenges of global competition.

Managing Growth - Monday 18h15 – 20h00 (summer term)

The main objective of this course is to understand the strategic and organizational challenges related to managing corporate growth and development. The course presents new theoretical concepts and empirical research findings related to the areas of growth, strategy, and organization. Based on case studies, managerial issues are discussed and lessons learned are drawn in groups.

Business Strategy

This course deals with the craft of strategy – that is, how to analyze a company’s environment, how to select the right strategy, and how to construct the organizational context to implement the chosen strategy. Throughout the course, we try to move beyond the necessary conceptual models and analytical techniques, and provide students a hands-on experience of strategy.

International Strategy

Since virtually all organizations have to deal with global competition in one form or another, this course is intended for students interested in pursuing general management positions in almost any type of organization.

We will address the following main areas:

Global Strategies: Competing in International Markets; International Expansion and Entry Decisions; Global Organization: Local Adaptiveness vs. Global Integration; Global Leadership: Managing International Growth Initiatives.
