Master thesis

In order to obtain the Master’s degree, students have to write a Master’s thesis after successful completion of their first year course work and internship.

The first step for the student is to find a topic and a thesis supervisor. The thesis supervisor is typically a lecturer in the Master of Science in Management Program at HEC Geneva and is not necessarily the academic advisor of the internship. The thesis supervisor has to agree to the thesis topic, before the student should start working on the thesis. Depending on the supervisor topics could be related to current research activities or general areas of interest. Most of the supervisors will be open to students’ suggestions, but will obviously reject topics that lack scientific potential or are not in their field of expertise. A defense of the master thesis may be demanded from the student, depending on the supervisor of the master thesis.

In case the student writes a Master thesis in collaboration with a company and the content of the thesis should be kept secret and be protected, a non-disclosure agreement can be signed by all three parties, student, represent of the company and master thesis supervisor.
