Strategic Management Specialization

Specialization in Strategic Management (90 ECTS)

Today's managers face market environments that are marked by rapid change, ever increasing competition and growing complexity. To navigate their firms successfully through these challenging environments, managers have to combine short-term operational actions with more long-term strategic thinking. Strategic management is concerned with the long-term success of the firm. It helps firms to define their objectives, develop strategic plans to attain these objectives, and plan the implementation of these plans in the marketplace. This is a complex process that requires sound analyses of the firm's competitive environments as well as their own unique capabilities. Strategic management is closely intertwined with many of the firm's most vital functions, including marketing, product development, human resources and production. It complements these disciplines by a strategic dimension that helps focusing all these activities towards the firms' long-term objectives.

In the Strategic Management specialization, we strive for providing students with the latest analytical tools and techniques, as well as the ability to apply these theoretical concepts to real-life company challenges. The selection of courses that make up the specialization spans multiple strategy courses, but covers as well the related domains such as general management, finance and organisational science.
